refine your german skills
I help expats, professionals and academics master German at the highest level — with structure, expert guidance and a plan built around your goals.
choose your focus
Learning German alongside a job, a move, or a dissertation is a different challenge than learning it at school. You need German you can actually use — in meetings, at the Bürgeramt or in your next job interview.
I'm Verena, a linguist with an M.A. in German as a Foreign Language and over seven years of teaching experience. I work one-to-one with expats, professionals and academics who want a clear structure behind their progress.
Every lesson below rests on the same foundation: a learning plan built around your goals, materials I select and create for you, and detailed feedback after every session. We'll assess your level, talk through your goals and map out your plan together.

TRIal lesson
45 min • 18€
Before we choose a course, let's meet. In 45 minutes we assess your current level, talk through your goals, and I sketch out a learning plan for you. You also get a feel for how I teach — and I get to know you.
Perfect if you're not yet sure which lessons fit.
exam preparation
60 min • 48€
Focused preparation for telc (A1–C1), fide, and German for citizenship and official procedures. We cover every part of the exam — speaking, writing, listening, reading — with model tasks, strategies and corrected practice papers. At language centres in Zurich and Basel I prepared whole classes for their telc & fide exams.
Perfect if you have an exam date and need to pass.
German lessons
All levels • 60 min • 35€
Your core course, from complete beginner (A1) to advanced (C1). We follow a structured plan built around your goals, with speaking at the centre and grammar growing naturally alongside it. Focus areas on request: complex grammar, pronunciation, writing, or learning through literature and current articles.
Perfect if you want steady progress with a clear plan.
German for your career
60 min • 35€
German for the moments that decide things: job interviews, introducing yourself, and everyday communication with colleagues. We rehearse the situations you're walking into, work on a professional register and refine your pronunciation.
Perfect if you're applying for jobs, starting a new role, or finding your way in the German or Swiss job market.
conversation training
60 min • 35€
Pure speaking time. No stiff curriculum — we talk about topics you choose, and I give you targeted feedback on what to refine. You'll pick up the natural expressions textbook leave out and lose your fear of making mistakes.
Perfect if you understand a lot but hesitate when it's your turn to speak.
academic german
60 min • 48€
German for university and research: conference talks, presentations, academic writing and the defence of your dissertation — I have guided a doctoral candidate through hers. Between sessions you receive written corrections and feedback on your texts, and we train the academic register you're expected to use.
Perfect if you study, teach or research in German.
how we work together
We start with your goals
Before anything else, we work out what you need German for and where you currently stand. Everything that follows is built on that.
you work with real material
A well-chosen coursebook gives us a backbone, and I build around it: PDFs, audio, articles and news, quizzes, past exam papers and homework — picked for what you actually need.
Curious who you'll be learning with? About me ➼
